A struggle for existence

Charles R. Darwin (1809-1882) is known for his monumental 1859 publication entitled “On The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life”.In “the Origin of Species” Darwin described a world in which only the fittest survive, in which species must constantly adapt to their changing environment or face extinction. A struggle for existence. A world in which one must grow in a profitable direction and develop new skills, seek for new forms of cooperation and competition. His theory is ever so true for businesses in this digital age.

D2 (aka Digital Darwin) was founded 8-8-2000 by James Troch, to help specifically the entertainment business in that e-xistence struggle. Cinema has since experienced its challenges; ticketing systems, move from 35mm to digital projection, home cinema, the DCP, fighting piracy, 3D, high frame rates, screening windows, immersive sound, VPF changing how equipment was financed and who serviced it, Netflix and the likes, from xenon bulbs to laser projection, covid… The strongest will survive is 24 years later still very true. We are happy to work for an industry that has shown that hard work, creativity, passion and perseverance is key.
